Communicare

Communicare matches volunteers with elderly people who are homebound, isolated, or just in need of help when they go out. The scope of the relationship is developed by the visiting pair. With the aging and increased mobility of the country's population, many older people are no longer able to live the independent lives they are accustomed to without some kind of assistance. Communicare visitors help provide the support elderly individuals need. A professional part-time coordinator recruits and trains volunteers and pairs them with elders requesting support. Currently, 35 elderly persons are being visited under the program and others await assignment of a volunteer.
